Therapy types

Integrative Art Psychotherapy

Art Psychotherapy is a gentle way of exploring the unconscious, expressing emotions using a variation of art materials offered. Experience of using the arts is not a requirement for art therapy. The only requirement is an open mind.

Integrative Psychotherapy

Individual one to one therapy is a space for you to come where I support you to implement various methods to help develop new attitudes towards life’s most complex matters. This is your time to focus completely on yourself and your needs. Using a wide range of psychotherapeutic schools of thought, we, together work to  understanding your needs and how to achieve them.

Group Therapy

Group work is a opportunity to develop self-awareness in and outside of relationships. This is a powerful way to learn how to function within a team.
Using the arts as a vehicle of communication in groups, encourages the exploring and development of self with others.

Counselling

In counselling sessions, we work to solve current problems and improve positive thinking and behaviour. I will help you “re-frame” your reactions and provide you with valuable tools to cope with life’s obstacles that are causing you distress.

Mentoring

Mentoring is a non therapeutic relationship where we look at what you need to work on to move forward in your career or education. It is target led, with clear goals to aim for. I have years of experience working with neurodiverse students in higher education, working towards various degree levels.

EMDR

EMDR levels 1&2 (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a powerful therapy designed to help people recover from traumatic events, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, performance related anxieties, phobias, anxiety disorders. Clients' experiences

’Denise was my first experience with therapy. I was very unsure as to what to expect, yet, through the weeks of our sessions together, Denise helped me to come a long way.
Within a short space of time of our work together, she has had a massive impact on my mental wellbeing.
Denise is such a warm and kind individual, who created an environment in which I felt extremely comfortable.
I would not hesitate to give her a call if needed in the future.

'Denise has always been there for the emotional stumbles as I tried new ways of being out in the world.  A lot has changed for me during our sessions, my own self-acceptance and self-validation, that I did not know was missing. I honestly feel that this is because of Denise’s professional and caring expertise as a therapist.

I would recommend Denise a thousand times over and am eternally grateful that Denise was the person to go on this journey with me. I’m now 'choosing' and 'feeling', this empowers me in my life today.'

'After the death of both parents, I found my self lost. A friend knew a therapist who recommended Denise. I immediately took to her. I felt I could trust her. During my treatment, Denise was with me every step of the way. We laughed and cried. She has been my business mentor, my wise person as well as my therapist. She gets the big picture as well as the detail. She listens with clarity, skill, creativity and intelligence and is probably the brightest person I know. I write here today blessed with having known her and our work together. I know I could not have accomplished what I have done without our sessions. Boundary setting, understanding the pressure points and triggers. I didn’t know I could be me.  I didn’t know who I was. Denise helped me to find me. My relationship with my partner has grown, he says has a 'new girlfriend.

I am a completely different person since having therapy. On my last week, it felt like I was going to my graduation ceremony, having achieved a PhD from a Life University. My confidence and respect for myself is completely different to how I thought of myself before having therapy.'

'After living with intense anxiety for over ten years, not accepting that it had anything to do with my mental health, I took advise and found Denise. We had a lengthy telephone conversation, instantly putting me at ease. We worked together which surprised me as I thought therapists stayed quiet! I can not express enough, the secure emotional state I now feel that I am in. Denise encouraged me to become more aware of my thoughts, feeling and behaviours. I am more reflective, which helps me to cope with the everyday strife's from life.'

'Therapy helped me deal  with my childhood traumas that have affected my daily life well into my forties. It lite the dark place where I hid all my fears. Above all, Denise helped me make changes to my patterns by understanding myself and the traumas which kept me in anger. Through using the art materials I became aware of who I am and who I want to be in my relationships.
There is a lot of stigma surrounding mental health. I think regular therapy should be part of everyone's life.'

'I was extremely fortunate to be put in touch with Denise. At that time I was finding it difficult to manage the minefield of my recent divorce, the guilt I felt for my children and confusion over my sexuality. Over a period of time, Denise helped me navigate and understand the best approach for each issue, all were very sensitive, as was I.

I needed someone to understand me, I needed to understand myself. I felt that for the first time I could really trust someone professionally, I had sought out therapists over the years but did not connect to any of them. I just clicked with Denise after our first session. I looked forward to our weekly meetings. As a family we are so grateful to be in constant communication with each other, after being given the tools to really talk. We know how to talk to each other when difficulties arise. We thank Denise for helping us to get to this point. I would highly recommend her.'

I began working with Denise at the height of my anxiety, depression and disorganisation at the start of my undergraduate studies. I believed I was not worthy of the help or deserving of being successful. My health was poor in every state of the word. Through my work with Denise over the past four years, she has been the cornerstone to my recovery, both emotionally and physically. Through our work, I am now equipped with the resources and thinking to allow me to stand on my own two feet. I am now organised, re-energised and healthy.

Denise has additionally supported me as a musician by helping me work through practical and administrative problems and my studies whilst at university, creating an extremely nurturing and encouraging environment.
