Hello and welcome
“In my early professional years I was asking the question: How can I treat or cure or change this person? Now I would phrase the question in this way: How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for his own personal growth’
Carl R Rogers

I conduct my practice under the UKCP & HCPC code of ethics guidelines.
I have always had an innate interest in what makes us ‘us’, I am curious by nature which is a leading factor in our relationship and work. I am interested to how we relate to ourselves and others through the lens of old messages, patterns, learnings and role models from our past, healthy and not so, these which may impact relationships with ourselves and others.
I believe we all have a need to be seen and heard, but these validations can be difficult to ask for.
My style is to relate with you, I am present and vocal, with empathy, working towards the goals you want to work on.
I work from a client led perspective which means that you bring whatever you feel needs attention to the session.
Working with your unique material, I am respectful and confidential.

Therapy types
Integrative Art Psychotherapy
Art Psychotherapy is a gentle way of exploring the unconscious, expressing emotions using a variation of art materials offered. Experience of using the arts is not a requirement for art therapy. The only requirement is an open mind.
Integrative Psychotherapy
Individual one to one therapy is a space for you to come where I support you to implement various methods to help develop new attitudes towards life’s most complex matters. This is your time to focus completely on yourself and your needs. Using a wide range of psychotherapeutic schools of thought, we, together work to understanding your needs and how to achieve them.
Group Therapy
Group work is a opportunity to develop self-awareness in and outside of relationships. This is a powerful way to learn how to function within a team.
Using the arts as a vehicle of communication in groups, encourages the exploring and development of self with others.
Counselling
In counselling sessions, we work to solve current problems and improve positive thinking and behaviour. I will help you “re-frame” your reactions and provide you with valuable tools to cope with life’s obstacles that are causing you distress.
Mentoring
Mentoring is a non therapeutic relationship where we look at what you need to work on to move forward in your career or education. It is target led, with clear goals to aim for. I have years of experience working with neurodiverse students in higher education, working towards various degree levels.
EMDR
EMDR levels 1&2 (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing) is a powerful therapy designed to help people recover from traumatic events, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, performance related anxieties, phobias, anxiety disorders. Level 3 to be completed by end of 2020, Covid 19 restrictions permitting.
Clients' experiences
’Denise was my first experience with therapy. I was very unsure as to what to expect, yet, through the weeks of our sessions together, Denise helped me to come a long way.
Within a short space of time of our work together, she has had a massive impact on my mental wellbeing.
Denise is such a warm and kind individual, who created an environment in which I felt extremely comfortable.
I would not hesitate to give her a call if needed in the future.
